Learning Activities

3 Learning Activities for students to help retain their learning.
  1. 1)  Have students interpret results of studies that have already been done about water quality
on Lake Erie. This would be in the Understand area of the Adapted Taxonomy. The rationale for this activity would be to do some background research into what has already been studied about water quality in our area so that way students can no in what direction do we need to move or what areas still need explored.

  1. 2)  Have students plan a field trip to a place along Lake Erie and have them come up with a set of experiments that will be conducted to test certain aspects of water quality. This would go with the Apply area of the Adapted Taxonomy because students would have to execute and implement a set of experiments to further their knowledge of the Lake’s water quality.

  1. 3)  Have students create a summary on their findings of their experiment where they organize their data into tables and graphs. This would involve the Analyze area of the Adapted Taxonomy because they organize their data and then that would eventually lead to evaluating their data and checking their results with other studies done.
